Quentin Garrido, ESIEE Paris graduate and PhD student, was awarded the “Ian Lawson Van Toch Memorial Award for Outstanding Student Paper” at the conférence ISMB 2022 for research in Computational Biology. He wrote this paper in his 4th year at ESIEE Paris.

The paper presented at the ISMB 2022 conference was published in Bioinformatics, one of the most important fields of Computational Biology.

Quentin Garrido’s remarkable journey at ESIEE Paris

Quentin’s time at ESIEE has been impressive. He began his undergraduate studies after achieving a very high scientific Baccalaureate grade. He specialized in computing in his final two years of studies.

He carried out his research at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, in partnership with ESIEE Paris. His project involves the development of a new method, based on deep learning, for identifying the tree structure of cell differentiation.

He obtained his engineering degree in 2021 and was awarded an excellence prize by the jury.

He is currently working on his PhD at META (Facebook) under the supervision of:

  • Yann LeCun, Scientific Director of Artificial Intelligence at META (Facebook) and New York University Professor, ESIEE Paris ‘83 graduate, Turing prize winner 2019
  • Laurent Najman, Student-Researcher at ESIEE Paris, artificial intelligence specialist

This doctoral thesis marks the continued collaboration between Yann LeCun and ESIEE Paris.
