There is some typos and teorical errors in this report.

The most important: The "fuzzy" histogram is totally inconsistent. I'll rewrite it, someday :D. Basically, Each membership function has to be integrated over each bin. I noticed that 1 year before the report. But the main idea is really amazing, and many researchers went in same direction at this time (not due this work :[ )

Other activities:

Every year there is an event, called "Unicamp de Portas Abertas" (something like Unicamp with open doors), to show for the society the research and projects made here.

I'm helping this event since 2004:

  • 2004: Using your hand as a mouse:

 

A trivial, but impressive,  image processing system which allows to movement the mouse using the hand of the user, wearing a green glove.

Despite the simplicity of the system (the glove is the ONLY green thing in the scene), it shows to people of others areas a demonstration of what is possible to create using only a webcam. It was a sucess of public ;)

  • 2005: Autonomous navigation in a controlled environment:

 

Another simple demonstration of a image processing/computer vision system. An camera in the top of the environment, some obstacles and one Lego Mindstorms robot.

The robot shall go through the field, avoiding the obstacles. The unique moving object is the robot.

The robot often went right in the obstacle. With this I explained about systems assumptions, failures and how overcome them. Just as usual research. :D
