Smart Systems

The project aims at providing training of researchers in the field of new materials and adaptive systems. "New materials" is used here as a generic term for «functional» materials whose physical or chemical properties are used in the design of control elements yielding smart systems. The scientific objectives of the research are to develop efficient mathematical methods and numerical tools for modelling, control and numerical simulation.
The project will fund more than 300 months of pre and post doctoral positions between november 2002 and october 2006. Participation of women is encouraged.
