Current positions in new information and communication technology (NITC) sectors and the academic and economic environment provided by Marne-la-Vallée facilitate applications of research to sustainable development. The use of ICST as a means of contributing to sustainable development has been included in the three subject areas addressed by the "Advancity" centre of competitive excellence: urbanism and development, housing and construction, and mobility and transport.
