Cross layer optimisation in wireless networks

Wireless communications are becoming more and more popular due to the proliferation of wireless devices as well as the user demand for ubiquitous computing. They are foreseen to play a key role in future communication systems.

Our goal is to improve the transmission service affected by the characteristics of wireless networks. We use the cross layer concept to provide an optimized global service at the opposite of the  local optimization of the layered approach.

We develop new rate control schemes for transport protocols in Multi-hop Wireless Networks, by estimating the contention level and the available bandwidth at the MAC layer.

In heterogeneous networks, we use cross layer concept to create cooperation between small base stations in order to improve coverage, capacity and to optimize the energy consumption over the network.
